Secret Kingdoms is delighted to welcome author Neville Unwin to discuss his books on some less well known, but fascinating aspects of Spanish History. These include;

The Life and Times of Emilio Herrera – Highflying Scientist – he invented the space suit, piloted the Graf Zeppelin, and corresponded with Einstein. He later specialised in rocket and satellite design, assisted Spanish war refugees, publicised the danger of nuclear weapons and became President of the Spanish republican government in exile.

Julio Mangada Rosenörn – At the start of the Spanish Civil War, he led a militia column entrusted with the defence of the area between Ávila and El Escorial against the Francoists. This book also covers the Rif war, the Jaca uprising,  and his passionate espousal of Esperanto, freemasonry, vegetarianism and heliotherapy.

The Sierra de Guadarrama in Spanish Civil War, & Mountain Warpaths – explore the remnants of the Civil war in the mountains of Madrid. These books include information on the battles for the mountain passes, the action of volunteer militia columns and the battle for Segovia.

Drinks and snacks will be served. Whilst the event is free, places are limited. Please reserve via buying a 3€ voucher. This can be redeemed in store on the night.
